This chronic leak was repaired once
but the repair did not solve the problem because whomever did the
repair did not address the actual
cause of the leak. By measuring,
we determined the leak was occuring at the point where the short roof met the main house. We removed the siding to expose the plywood sheathing behind and then cut through that sheathing to expose the copper flashing that went up behind that.
Because of a failed tarpaper barrier, water found its way between the slates and into the living space below. We dismantled this area to find the leaks.
